Frequently Asked Questions

What if my ceiling has cracks?
We fix all visible damage once the stipple has been removed. If we notice cracks or damage during the estimate, we make note of them in advance. These areas will be repaired after the ceiling has been sanded, as it’s much easier and more effective to handle repairs at that stage. This step is crucial to ensure your ceiling ends up smooth and flawless.

How messy is it?
Not messy at all—with us. The traditional method of popcorn ceiling removal involves spraying water and scraping, which leaves dust, debris, and mess everywhere. At Dreamwood, we’ve invested in a dustless sanding system connected to a HEPA-filter dust extractor. This keeps your home as clean as possible while we work.

Do I need to remove my furniture?
Yes. It’s important for us to have full access to every square inch of the ceiling, both for quality and safety. If there’s furniture that cannot be removed, we’ll assess the situation and take proper precautions to protect it.

Can I stay home during the job?
Yes, you can remain in your home, just not in the active work area. The rooms being worked on are considered construction zones during work hours and should be avoided until the day’s work is complete. You’re free to return to the space at the end of each day.

When can I use the room again?
Right away. Once we’ve completed the job and cleaned up, you can use the room immediately. We use low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) products that are safe for indoor use, so there’s no need to worry about air quality once we’re done.

What if I'm also getting pot lights installed?
Have your electrician do their work first. We’ll take care of patching any holes or damage afterward during our process. It’s more efficient and cost-effective to handle all repairs in one go while we’re already on site.

ill I lose ceiling height?
No. The difference is usually under ¼ inch, not noticeable.

Can you handle high ceilings?
Yes, during our estimate we will make notes of any hard to reach places like high ceilings or above staircase to quote accurately and bring the right equipment.
